One ton on your dashboard equals one voluntary carbon credit — representing one metric ton of CO₂e reduced or removed by a verified project — purchased and retired on your behalf. Accrual is shown continuously; retirements occur on our periodic purchase schedule and are documented on the Disclosures page.
Impact equivalents.
Equivalents such as trees planted, miles not driven, and homes powered are estimates calculated using the U.S. EPA Greenhouse Gas Equivalencies Calculator factors. They are illustrations of scale, not additional claims of impact.
Tier sizing.
The Footprint tier (16 tons per year) is sized with reference to the approximate average annual carbon footprint of a U.S. resident. Individual footprints vary significantly based on lifestyle, location, and consumption.
